Be A Tourist Without Looking Like One
Posted by HAYLIE SEGAL
Tourists do not have a great reputation for style. Infamously decreed as colour-blind, mismatched, and unaware of size, tourists can never seem to pull together a decent outfit. It is hard, admittedly. With every new city comes a new style trend and quota. The tapered suit may look fitting in London, but it will stick out in the Latin Quarter of Paris. The flamboyant street-style of Japan may work in Tokyo, but will cause turned heads and furled eyebrows in the Alps of Switzerland. So how do we, as tourists, dress in a way that can allow us to fit-in while also not being so fashion forward that reason abandons the outfit once city lines are crossed? I cannot give you the full answer to that question, but I can give you a solution as to what to wear around your feet. That answer, naturally, is Dr. Segal’s Compression Socks. These socks will not only give you health benefits that are crucial to travelling, like increased blood flow and leg energy, but they will also add flare to your outfit that is both subtle and stylish no matter where you are in the world.
Dr. Segal’s Compression Socks have enough variety in designs that they can compliment nearly any personality. On Dr. Segal’s website, you can find socks patterned with leopard prints, stripes, houndstooth, and argyle. In other words, you will find a pair that suits any personality from a wild creative to an algorithmic entrepreneur.
They are high socks, and most pairs of Dr. Segal’s will reach to just below your knees. This is a good thing, stylistically. Recent trends of style have supported knee- high socks, especially ones with attention-grabbing patterns. The past few years have seen the rise of high, colourful socks worn under a variety of pants such as jeans or slacks. The patterned socks add colourful detail to an otherwise simple outfit. For women, the high socks can be worn with a dress, which, if matched correctly, will make for a very fashion-forward outfit.
Even more recently, the high socks worn with shorts have reappeared as a style-
statement, at least in North America. The style is a little geeky, but also a little cool, and it has returned to style along with Hawaiian shirts and fishing hats. I would not suggest doing these three items all at the same time, though, as that might be an overload. Wearing your Dr. Segal’s Compression Socks with shorts will show you to be a fashion-leader among your peers while also showcasing your socks as the main component to your outfit. I would suggest wearing this outfit with a slim or athletic shoe.
Whether you are hiking in the summertime in Switzerland, taking a walk through
Harajuku, shopping at Harrods in London, or eating croissants at a business meeting in Paris, your Dr. Segal’s Compression Socks have you covered with style and health benefits. Dr. Segal’s will help you with blood flow and leg energy while also being your first step to dressing like a local instead of a tourist.
